Caring for your jewellery: five essential habits
The right pieces last for years — if you treat them as they deserve. Five habits that make all the difference.
- Perfume first, jewellery last — wait two minutes.
- Shower yes, pool and chlorine no.
- Store each piece separately and clean with a soft, dry cloth.

Gold-plated jewellery is not fragile by definition. With the right habits, an 18k gold-plated piece keeps its lustre for years. The enemy is not time — it is everyday chemistry.
First habit: perfume first, jewellery last. Alcohol and essential oils are the greatest wearers of gold plating. Wait two minutes between your fragrance and your necklace.
Second: water yes, pool no. Our stainless steel pieces withstand the shower, but chlorine attacks any finish. Remove your jewellery before swimming.
Third: store each piece separately. Friction between chains scratches finishes. The velvet pouch that comes with every order is not decoration — it is protection.
Fourth: clean with a soft, dry cloth once a week if you wear the piece daily. Fifth and last: let jewellery be the last thing you put on and the first you take off. It is the habit that extends the life of any piece most.
